Your Guide to Valencia During Egg Freezing

Valencia is one of the most fun cities I’ve visited recently. It’s easy to navigate, welcoming and incredibly photogenic - almost every corner feels like an Instagram moment.
To me, it’s the perfect place to combine egg freezing with a holiday. While your follicles are developing, you can work remotely, explore the city and enjoy a welcome distraction from the treatment process.
I was initially nervous about the language barrier, but it wasn’t an issue anywhere I went. People were friendly and helpful, and I was generally able to communicate easily in English.

Cafés for Working Remotely
I was surprised by just how many wonderful cafés Valencia has. The city is very friendly to remote workers and digital nomads, with excellent coffee, reliable Wi-Fi and - crucially during the summer - air-conditioning.
A few good laptop-friendly options include:
I’N Coffee & Tea - A spacious specialty-coffee shop that was great for working remotely, with plenty of seating and an excellent selection of drinks and food.
Bastard Coffee & Kitchen - A trendy and spacious café that’s good for casual work. It can get lively, so it may not be ideal for important calls.
Dulce de Leche Boutique - A bright and spacious café with Wi-Fi, pastries, breakfast dishes and plenty of seating. It can get busy, so arrive early if you plan to work for a few hours.
Cult Café - A stylish and comfortable café that welcomed laptops after 12:30 p.m. when I visited.
Federal Café - A centrally located café with large tables, Wi-Fi, outlets and an all-day brunch menu. Wi-Fi access may be limited during busy periods or on weekends.
Café ArtySana - A relaxed Ruzafa café with comfortable seating, reliable Wi-Fi, smoothies and brunch-style food. The atmosphere is creative and welcoming.
Ubik Café - Part café and part bookstore, with Wi-Fi and a lively, bohemian atmosphere. It’s a fun option if you prefer working somewhere with a little more energy.
Gentle Exercise and Gyms
As your ovaries enlarge during stimulation, fertility doctors generally recommend avoiding high-impact exercise, heavy lifting and intense HIIT workouts. Gentle movement, such as walking or other activities approved by your doctor, can still feel great.
Here are a few convenient options for you or your partner:
Turia Gardens - This nine-kilometre park runs through the city and is perfect for an easy walk. It’s one of the best ways to stay active while seeing Valencia. This is a must when visiting Valencia
Basic-Fit — A practical no-frills gym option with several Valencia locations. One-day passes are available, which is especially helpful for partners or short stays.
Walking through Ciutat Vella — Exploring the Old Town is gentle exercise disguised as sightseeing. You’ll pass historic buildings, plazas, cafés and the Central Market along the way.
Always follow your clinic’s individual guidance on exercise during treatment.
Vegetarian-Friendly Restaurants
The food in Valencia was excellent, and as vegetarians, we didn’t struggle at all.
Spanish dinners tend to start later, but Valencia also has plenty of casual restaurants if you prefer to maintain an earlier eating schedule. A few great options include:
La Casa Viva - A fully vegetarian and vegan restaurant in Ruzafa with Mediterranean-inspired dishes, homemade pastas and lasagnas. Reservations are recommended.
Honest Greens - A reliable fast-casual option for an earlier lunch or dinner, with customizable bowls, vegetables, grains and plant-based proteins.
Almalibre Açaí House - A casual vegan restaurant serving açaí bowls, wraps, burgers and globally inspired dishes. It’s especially convenient for breakfast or an easy daytime meal.
Kukla - A Middle Eastern–inspired restaurant with plenty of vegetarian-friendly dishes, including hummus, falafel and roasted vegetables.
Mestiza - A plant-based restaurant near the beach serving Mediterranean-inspired food in a relaxed setting.
Mercado Central - A beautiful food market where you can pick up fresh fruit, bread, cheese, olives and other easy snacks for your apartment.
Valencia has more than 200 vegan, vegetarian or vegetarian-friendly listings, so there are plenty of options throughout the city. Explore additional restaurants
Where to Stay
Valencia’s historic streets can make you feel as though you’ve stepped into a storybook. The best neighborhood depends on whether you want to prioritize the clinic, restaurants, sightseeing or the beach.
Campanar: Best for Clinic Convenience
If you’re receiving treatment at IVI Valencia, Campanar is the most practical option. The clinic is located at Plaza de Policía Local, 3 and is accessible from the Campanar metro station. The area is quieter and more residential than the city center, with supermarkets, newer apartments and easy access to Turia Gardens. IVI Valencia location and transportation
Ciutat Vella: Best for a First Visit
Valencia’s Old Town is ideal if you want to be surrounded by historic architecture and within walking distance of the city’s major attractions. It’s beautiful and central, although some older buildings may not have elevators - something worth checking before booking, particularly around your retrieval.
Ruzafa: Best for Cafés and Restaurants
Ruzafa is colorful, energetic and filled with independent cafés, restaurants and boutiques. It’s an excellent choice if you’re working remotely and want plenty to do nearby. However, some streets can become noisy at night, especially on weekends.
L’Eixample: Best for Comfort and a Quieter Stay
L’Eixample is elegant, central and generally calmer than Ruzafa. Its wider streets and easy access to restaurants, shops and Turia Gardens make it a comfortable option during treatment.
El Cabanyal: Best for the Beach
Choose El Cabanyal if being close to the sea is your priority. The neighborhood has a relaxed atmosphere and colorful architecture, but it’s farther from both the city center and IVI Valencia.
My personal picks would be L’Eixample or La Xerea for the best combination of comfort and city life. I stayed in La Xerea and loved its central, walkable location. If minimizing travel to clinic appointments is your main priority, choose Campanar.
