Relationship Rituals

Relationship Rituals are important for maintaining healthy relationships. They can help couples to connect, show love and appreciation, and strengthen their bond. Here are some suggestions for relationship rituals: 

 

Some things to think about for relationship rituals 

  • Reduce Distraction - Keep your cell phones away, turn off the TV and try to find an area with limited to no distractions 

  • Be present - be mindful of the time you spend with your significant other and focus entirely on your partner.  

  • Consistency - consistency is always the key - try to do your rituals at least once a week. This will allow for this ritual to become a habit. 

  • Simple - don’t make it super complicated - the simpler it is, it will be easier to do it regularly. 

Ideas for relationship rituals 

Set aside a specific time every day to talk with your partner. This could be a ten-minute conversation before bed, or a longer conversation over dinner. Ask each other how the day went, share any concerns or challenges, and express appreciation for each other.

Daily check-ins

Weekly date nights

Set aside time each week to spend together, just the two of you. This could be a dinner date, movie night, or a fun outing. Make it a priority to reconnect and have fun together.

Find a meal that you can share - be it a cup of coffee in the morning or dinner. And as usual, avoid distractions, like TV or phone. 

Share a Meal

Small Gestures

Show appreciation and gratitude for each other regularly. This can be through words of affirmation, acts of kindness, or small gestures such as leaving a note or bringing home a favorite treat.

Mark Small and Big Moments

When you mark moments, memories are made. It is a chance to reflect on your relationship or life and pause and appreciate the moment. 

Annual Retreats

Once a year, plan a special trip or retreat just for the two of you. This could be a weekend at a cabin, a trip to a new city, or a week-long vacation. Use this time to disconnect from the outside world and focus on each other. This can be a great opportunity to reconnect and strengthen your relationship.

Arrival and Departure

Before you leave or come back, take a few moments to connect with your partner. Talk about what's on your mind, plan for the day, or just give them a hug. Make sure to be present and focused during this interaction instead of just rushing through it.

These are just a few ideas for relationship rituals. The important thing is to find what works for you and your partner and make it a regular part of your relationship.
